Jutes Says He and Fiancée Demi Lovato Are Taking Their Time with Wedding Planning: 'We'll Be Married Forever' (Exclusive)
The couple, who first met during a writing session for Lovato's album 'Holy Fvck,' got engaged in December 2023
Jutes and fiancée Demi Lovato are feeling nothing but confident about their upcoming nuptials.
The pair, who got engaged in December 2023, are focused on relishing this special time in their lives, with Jutes telling PEOPLE that they aren't looking to rush the planning process.
"We're not trying to stress ourselves out. I feel like a lot of weddings can be stressful and very quick, and so we're on it, but we're also taking our time, and we're also just enjoying being engaged," he says. "We're not trying to skip engagement to get right to wedding. We're just basking in it and soaking it up. We'll be married forever. We just want to enjoy every step."
Jutes, who is currently working on his debut album, originally met Lovato when the two worked together in the studio for their record Holy Fvck. Almost three years later, and the singer-songwriter still loves how organic their introduction was.
"[It's] so rare nowadays. I think she even said to her friends, 'it's been a while since I've seen one in the wild' or something like that, because we were just in real life meeting each other," Jutes recalls. "It wasn't even like we met up for a date. We were meeting up to write. It was platonic. It was like, 'Let's make some music together. Let's do what we both love to do.' And it was the coolest way to bond with someone and become friends."
Lovato — who uses she/they pronouns — has said that she liked Jutes immediately, telling Teen Vogue in September that she "instantly had a crush” on him after meeting.
“I live and breathe for our connection,” they said, later adding: “Everything I do, I wish I was with him. I see my future with him. I see growing old with him."

For Jutes, the feeling was definitely mutual, but he wanted to be mindful of keeping things professional, especially after meeting Lovato for the very first time.
"I knew she was obviously very special, and I was very surprised with how comfortable and close I felt to her very quickly, but I didn't even consider that it would be more than friends. In my mind I'm like, 'Oh, I'm a songwriter.' It didn't even cross my mind. And then I think we wrote a few more songs and we went to some concerts and we started talking more and more and more gradually, and then over time we would hang out more, and then one thing led to another," he says with a smile.
"I don't know if I admitted it to myself that I was crushing, but I was like, 'Oh, I really like being around this person," he adds. "This person really gets me. I feel like I know this person already.' It was very easy, and it was nice."

The two have remained each other's biggest supporters ever since — with Jutes accompanying Lovato to a special screening of their latest documentary Child Star in September, and Lovato showing the "Sleepyhead" singer some love on social media ahead of his first-ever, sold-out headline show earlier this month.
"Wishing I was at my baby's show tonight," she began the caption on her Instagram story, referring to Jutes' gig at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles. "My love, you never cease to amaze me. I am constantly blown away by you and I couldn't be more proud of you!! You're incredible and I love you sooooo much! Have the best time tonight. You're gonna crush it!!!"
