Jurgen Klopp makes final decision on Diogo Jota future after ruthless Liverpool sale theory
What Liverpool think about the prospect of selling Diogo Jota during the summer transfer window has been revealed in the latest transfer update.
Jota was recently linked with a departure from Liverpool after a season of struggles for form and fitness. The forward has not scored all season, although he has missed significant sections of it with problems to his hamstring and calf.
Liverpool will need to spend in the transfer market this summer to improve their chances of finishing higher next season. But to stick with their policy of having a low net spend, they might have to make a sacrifice.
With that in mind, claims recently arose that Jota could be moved on. After all, Liverpool have added competition up front with the signings of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo in the past three transfer windows.
Now, a new update from Football Insider has revealed what the future might hold for Jota. According to the website, Liverpool won’t actually be letting him leave this year.
It is claimed that manager Jurgen Klopp still has a space in his squad available for Jota. Therefore, he doesn’t want to lose him.
After all, Liverpool would rather focus on overhauling their midfield, rather than their attack – which is already due to lose Roberto Firmino – in the next transfer window.
Besides, Jota is still under contract at Anfield until 2027 after renewing his terms back in August.
Therefore, not only could he still be in Klopp’s plans for next season, but he could have another three campaigns on top of that to look forward to on Merseyside.

Diogo Jota ready to remind of his Liverpool impact
Across his Liverpool career to date, Jota has scored 34 goals from 101 games. This season aside, he has been an impactful player since he joined from Wolves in September 2020.
Despite a difficult 2022-23 season, Jota has enough credit to his name to suggest he can still play a big part going forward. Certainly, with Firmino on his way out, there should be plenty of opportunities for him as a withdrawn centre-forward, or alternatively on either wing.
Perhaps this season has actually proven how important Jota is to Liverpool. While he has failed to build momentum, so have his team.
Having Jota fit and firing could have been more beneficial for Klopp’s side. At the peak of his powers, he can provide impetus to their attack.
Thus, once he can shake this season’s issues off, there may be brighter times ahead.
It will be interesting to see the wider implications of Klopp’s decision for Liverpool’s summer business. Will they have to raise funds by selling someone else, or is there more room to manoeuvre than expected?
Either way, Jota looks in line to continue his Liverpool career and remind everyone how dangerous he can be in the final third.
