Jun Ji-Hyun in special episode of "Kingdom"

21 Jul – Jun Ji-Hyun recently admitted that she has always been a fan of the Netflix Korean series, "Kingdom" - which is why she immediately said yes to starring in the special episode, "Kingdom: Ashin of the North".

As reported on Yonhap, the actress, who spoke about the upcoming episode, expressed that she even told the creator and writer, Kim Eun-Hee that she would be willing to appear as a zombie in "Kingdom" as she has always loved the said show.

"When I first read the screenplay, I anticipated that this special episode will expand the universe of 'Kingdom' indefinitely. I was thrilled at the thought that I could start the big story," she expressed.

The special episode will tell the story of Ashin (Jun Ji-Hyun), the successor of the northern village of Yeojin and how the resurrection plant that causes a mysterious plague that turns people into zombies in the mediaeval Joseon Dynasty came to be.

On the other hand, Kim revealed that she always had the "My Love from the Star" actress in mind for the role when she wrote the screenplay.

"She is an actor who has a wide spectrum of characters that she can play. She is suitable to Ashin, who looks like a dangerous warrior but is living with pain," said Kim.

"Kingdom: Ashin of the North" will begin streaming on Netflix on 23 July.
