The Hunger Games star left fans surprised and amused by sharing the photo snapped at a supermarket self-service checkout.
Julianne Moore has surprised fans by sharing a photo of herself using a supermarket self-service checkout.
The Hunger Games star shared the picture of herself laughing, snapped in the CCTV screen at the self-service checkout of a branch of Tesco, where she apparently popped in for a pint of milk.
Moore is with her eldest son Caleb, 26, who took the selfie, and his girlfriend Kiki who she wished a happy birthday, captioning the picture: "Happy birthday beauty - we love you." Moore, 63, is dressed casually in a padded khaki green bomber jacket with her hair scraped back in minimal make-up, and looks beautiful with her genuine laughing expression. She appears to be holding a bottle of milk, although Moore has spoken in the past about following a plant-based diet.
Her 2.5m followers were delighted by the sweet and funny picture, finding it hilarious.
Tesco was among those to comment on the photo, writing from the official account: "Unexpected royalty in the bagging area Hope you had a lovely trip." One fan quoted the supermarket's former marketing slogan, writing: "@juliannemoore in Tesco! Every little helps!", while another exclaimed: "Imagine bumping into JULIANNE MOORE in your local Tesco" And another joked: "Julianne do you have a club card????"
The Oscar-winning actor's trip to the supermarket comes just days after Adam Sandler was spotted chilling in a doorway near Claridge's hotel in Mayfair.
Moore has two children with husband, director Bart Freundlich - son Caleb and daughter Live, who turns 26 later this month. She recently said: “Life is really short, and I don’t want to throw it away on one thing, you know? I really do want to have all of it. I don’t have kids at home. I don’t want to be away for months at a time without my husband. I want a community, I want to be with my family, I want to see my girlfriends – and I want to do nuanced, interesting, compelling work and be able to support myself. Life is really short."
The award-winning actor most recently appeared in Todd Haynes' film May December with Natalie Portman. She will star in upcoming British historical drama Mary and George coming soon to Sky Atlantic, about the affair between King James VI and George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham. The series is based on a fictional novel but real life characters.
Moore has said she does not feel pressured playing historical figure, Countess Mary Villers, known for coercing her son into having a sexual relationship with King James VI of Scotland and I of England for financial gain and power.
She said: "I think when you are up against an actual memory or real person, it's much more difficult as an actor because you have a responsibility to be as exact as possible because people won't believe you unless you match the cadence of the person's movements, that physicality. When there is no memory, you have a lot of freedom."
Moore is currently filming thriller Echo Valley with Sydney Sweeney and Domhnall Gleeson and Almodovar's latest movie The Room Next Door with Tilda Swinton.
