Julianne Hough Fans Cannot Stop Freaking Out Over Her "Exorcism" Video

From Good Housekeeping

If you haven't yet watched the bizarre new Instagram video of Julianne Hough contorting and screaming on a table, you're seriously missing out. Even if you have though, you're still likely missing out on the deeper connection between the viral clip and Gwyneth Paltrow's new Netflix series The Goop Lab.

In the now-viral clip, practitioner John Amaral gave the former Dancing With the Stars pro a special "energy" treatment at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. While receiving the treatment, Julianne let out a giant scream and flopped around uncontrollably.

“There’s always a huge dissipation of energy and the feeling of relief, release, freedom," he explained as he touched Julianne's neck and proceeded to move his hand down her back. "This woman is like, an incredible dancer, actress, just, human being, and she has practiced just allowing things to move through.”

Not surprisingly, the video received lots of mixed and confused reactions, with many likening it to an exorcism and calling it "disturbing," "fascinating," and "upsetting." Several celebrities chimed in with their thoughts, as well.

"Is he pulling the demonic spirit out of her booty??? so many questions. Calling a priest," The Trap actress Heather McMahan commented. "What in the actual...," Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder wrote.

Julianne's brother, Derek Hough, also gave the video some thought: "This stuff looks whacky and crazy but diving into it with the understanding of pure energy is a pretty wild experience. Maybe ahead of its time but worth an open mind."

While the clip may seem like nothing more than a random gift to the internet, it turns out that John is a figure in The Goop Lab, which comes out today. It appears that Julianne took part in his demonstration and helped promote the show. Meanwhile, the former America's Got Talent judge continues to generate buzz around her new dance-based fitness program called KINRGY.

Julianne must've really appreciated the exercise, because she later instructed her fans to watch The Goop Lab in her Instagram Stories on Thursday. In response, Gwyneth wrote "love YOU, @juleshough" in her own Instagram Stories.

Honestly, this is all a lot to process ... nonetheless, we can't help but admit that we're now very intrigued by what The Goop Lab has to offer. Well done, team Goop.
