Few can light up a red carpet like Julia Roberts. And since she partnered with Chopard in 2021, the global ambassador has shined brighter than ever in the brand’s incredible jewels. (We’re still thinking about the yellow diamond weighing over 100 carats she wore at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022.).

And on Friday, at an intimate dinner at the Château Marmont in L.A., the actress and the jeweler took their partnership to the next level with the debut of Roberts’ first-ever collection created in collaboration with the brand.

The Chopard x Julia Roberts collection started with an incredibly rare 6,225 carat emerald that was discovered in a Zambian mine in 2021. Chopard acquired the stone and named it “Chopard Insofu”(“insofu” means elephant in Bemba, the language of the people living in the region).

With such a special gem in their possession, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard Caroline Scheufele knew they had to do something big with it. Like, Julia Roberts big.

“When I heard it was the biggest, I thought, that’s the only way Caroline rolls. She's like, 'If it's not the biggest or the best, I'm not interested,’” Roberts joked at the exclusive dinner where the collection was viewed.

The Oscar winner didn’t feel working with such a precious stone was daunting. “I was excited,” she told PEOPLE in an interview. “You know, they don't just look at the stone and say this is what it will be. They study it and look at it, from all the angles, to see what it should be. It's an art.”

Scheufele said in a statement, “Collaborating with Julia on this capsule collection has been an incredible journey. From the moment we discovered the Insofu Emerald, we knew it was a gem that could inspire greatness. This parure is a testament to that inspiration, a fusion of our shared passion for beauty, elegance, and responsible luxury."

The result is a ring, necklace and earrings, which alongside the emeralds features rubellites and turquoise, a stone Roberts “cherishes”. “It’s a beautiful stone,” Roberts told PEOPLE of the reason to include turquoise. “I love the blue color, and it has an earthiness and it feels so grounding. It just looks beautiful.”

Roberts wore all three designs with a white oversized button-down shirt, black tiered ruffle midi skirt and a black patent leather belt, all from the Carolina Herrera Fall Winter 2024 collection, at the dinner; Elton John also attended to celebrate the launch.  (“She'll be lucky if she leaves the dinner tonight with that necklace on,” the music legend joked. “Because I'm sitting next to her, and I've got my eyes on it.”)

During the evening, Roberts also marked International Women’s Day. “It is International Women's Day today. I don't even know what day of the week it is, and I only know this because my oldest son, on our family text, texted to say to me and his one and only sister: 'Love you on this International Women's Day.'” She raised a glass to the women in the room and to the men said, “And all of you gents, hold us up a little higher.”
