Journalists Protest New Head of Tunisia's State News Agency

There were tense scenes at the headquarters of Tunisia’s state news agency on April 13 after police entered the building following a protest by journalists against the appointment of a new chief executive.

This footage, posted to Facebook, shows chaotic scenes at Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) in Tunis on Tuesday afternoon.

The police intervention came after a protest by journalists, who blocked the entrance of the building in response to the government’s appointment of Kamel Ben Younes.

TAP journalists said they objected to the appointment because of Ben Younes’s political affiliations and claims he has previously stood against a free press. Credit: Karim Wannes via Storyful
