Josh Peck Offers Support to Drake Bell and Other Survivors After Watching Quiet on Set — Read Statement

Josh Peck is offering his “support for the survivors” — including his former co-star, Drake Bell — who were brave enough to share their stories of emotional and physical abuse on Nickelodeon sets with the world” in the ID docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.

Bell, 37, revealed himself to be the minor at the center of Brian Peck’s 2004 conviction. Peck, who served as a dialogue coach at Nickelodeon and bears no relation to Josh Peck, appeared on episodes of All That and The Amanda Show, and was later convicted of a lewd act against a child and oral copulation of a person under 16.

“I finished the Quiet on Set documentary and took a few days to process it,” Josh Peck’s statement begins. “I reached out to Drake privately, but want to give my support for the survivors who were brave enough to share their stories of emotional and physical abuse on Nickelodeon sets with the world. Children should be protected. Reliving this publicly is incredibly difficult, but I hope it can bring healing for the victims and their families as well as necessary change to our industry.”

Josh Peck’s public statement comes one day after Bell took to TikTok to ask fans to refrain from attacking his Drake & Josh co-star on social media. “I’ve noticed a lot of comments on some of Josh’s TikToks, and some of his posts,” Bell said Wednesday. “Processing this, and going through this, is a really emotional time, and a lot of it is very, very difficult, so not everything is put out to the public. But I just want you guys to know that he has reached out to me…. He has reached out to talk with me and help me work through this, and has been really great. So just wanted you guys to know that, and to take it a little easy on him.”

Bell rose to fame alongside Amanda Bynes and Josh Peck on the children’s sketch-comedy series The Amanda Show, which ran for three seasons between 1999 and 2002. Two years later, Bell and Peck reunited on another Dan Schneider production, Drake & Josh, which ran for four seasons, between 2004 and 2007, and spawned the 2008 made-for-TV follow-up movie, Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh.

In June 2021, Bell pled guilty to a felony charge of attempting to endanger children, and a misdemeanor charge of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. The charges stemmed from a 2017 incident involving Bell, then 31, and a 15-year-old girl he met online. According to authorities, Bell and the underage girl exchanged social media messages that were “sexual in nature.” He was sentenced to two years’ probation and 200 hours of community service.

Bell recently released an autobiographical music video that recounted not only his grooming at the hands of Brian Peck, but his own subsequent legal troubles.
