Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly to Lead Netflix Ranch Drama Ransom Canyon

Netflix has rounded up a pair of familiar faces to star in its next romantic drama series. (Think Virgin River, only with horses!)

Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly will headline Ransom Canyon, which “charts the intersecting lives of three ranching families, all set against the rugged expanse of Texas Hill Country,” according to the streamer’s official logline. A 10-episode first season has been ordered, based on Jodi Thomas’ book series of the same name.

Duhamel’s character, the “steadfast and stoic” Staten Kirkland, owns and operates the Double K Ranch and “leads the charge to resist outside forces threatening his way of life and the land that he loves.”

Kelly will play Quinn, who returns to Ransom Canyon to “carve out a new path for herself” after pursuing a career as a concert pianist in New York City. And if you’re looking for (saddle) baggage, look no further: Quinn “has often found herself in the shadow of others.”

Ransom Canyon is created by executive producer April Blair, whose previous TV credits include ABC Family’s Jane by Design; The CW’s All American, Hart of Dixie and Reign; Max’s Gossip Girl reboot, and Netflix’s Wednesday and You.
