Jonathan Bennett Wants to Make a Christmas Film with “Mean Girls” Costars Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert: 'Let's Do It' (Exclusive)

The three stars all recently released holiday-themed projects

Jonathan Bennett is ready to make fetch happen at Christmastime!

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the actor, 43, says he would love to make a Christmas film with his Mean Girls costars Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert, who have all recently released holiday-themed projects.

"I think what's so special about the similarities between Mean Girls and Christmas movies is they both have a through line — and that through line is that all these movies make people happy," Bennett, who will once again be partnering with Snapchat for New Year's Eve, says.

"There's a huge connection between the fan base of Mean Girls and the fan base of Christmas movies. These are people that want to turn on a movie and feel happier and walk away feeling better," he continues. "I think that's what these movies do."

"So to have Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert and I all starring in different Christmas movies, I think is perfectly on brand and on target for what we like to do as actors and storytellers, which is bring joy to people, period," the star adds. "Now the question is, when do we get to combine it and do a movie for Christmas with Lacey Chabert, me and Lindsay Lohan? That's what I'm looking for, because I think that would make so many people happy. Let's do it."

Bennett, Lohan, 38, and Chabert, 42, all starred together in 2004's Mean Girls, a comedy film that follows the complexities of high school's social hierarchies.

More recently, Bennett stars in Hallmark's Season's Greetings from Cherry Lane, while Lohan and Chabert star in Netflix's Our Little Secret and Hot Frosty, respectively.

In Hot Frosty, there is even a moment when Chabert's character Kathy watches a scene from Netflix's 2022 holiday film Falling for Christmas, which stars Lohan.

"That looks just like a girl I went to high school with," Kathy says in a clever nod to Chabert and Lohan's time starring together as students in Mean Girls.
