Joey is bringing Scott Westerfeld's Uglies series to your screen thanks to Netflix, as reported by Deadline. Along with starring in the film, she is also set to executive produce it. While there's no official word on which character she is set to play, it's safe to say that Joey will be starring as the iconic Tally.
The book series follows a post-apocalyptic world where everyone goes through invasive surgeries at 16-years-old to become "Pretties". However, there's a darker secret behind the whole procedure and Tally tries to get to the bottom of it before it's her turn to go through it.
Fans who are hoping to find out what will happen next can read the series, which includes the original four books and a brand new sequel series called Imposters.
McG, who recently directed The Babysitter: Killer Queen and Rim of the World, has been tapped to head the film. Meanwhile, Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner, Krista Vernoff, will be adapting the script.
An expected release date and additional casting have yet to be announced.
