Winters is the latest addition to the already stacked cast of “Joe Exotic.” He joins previously announced series leads Kate McKinnon, who will play Baskin, and John Cameron Mitchell, who will play Exotic. It was also recently announced that Brian Van Holt will play John Reinke, Sam Keeley will play John Finlay, Natt Wolff will play Travis Maldonado, and Dennis Quaid will play Rick Kirkham.

Winters is no stranger to Peacock audiences, as he currently appears in the streamer’s critically-acclaimed comedy “Girls5Eva.” That series reunites him with Tina Fey, with whom he previously worked on the hit NBC comedy “30 Rock.” Winters is best known for his time on the HBO prison drama “Oz,” on which he played Ryan O’Reily throughout the show’s run. His other TV credits include “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Rescue Me,” “American Gods,” “Law & Order: SVU,” while he has appeared in films like “John Wick” and “Rough Night.” He has played Mayhem for Allstate Insurance since 2010.

He is repped by Gersh, Anonymous Content, and Industry Entertainment.

Adapted from the Wondery Podcast of the same name, “Joe Exotic” centers on Carole Baskin (McKinnon), a big cat enthusiast, who learns that fellow exotic animal lover Joe “Exotic” Schreibvogel (Mitchell) is breeding and using his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down his venture, inciting a quickly escalating rivalry. But Carole has a checkered past of her own and when the claws come out, Joe will stop at nothing to expose what he sees as her hypocrisy. The results prove dangerous.

Etan Frankel serves as writer and executive producer under his overall deal with UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. McKinnon executive produces in addition to starring along with Wondery’s Hernan Lopez, Marshall Lewy and Aaron Hart. UCP will produce. Justin Tipping will direct the first four episodes, including the pilot.
