Joanna Gaines Announces New Children's Book: “The World Needs the Wonder You See”
The HGTV star revealed that her new book was inspired by the birth of her youngest son after she saw how he 'moves through the world'
Joanna Gaines is back with another children's book!
On Monday, Sept. 16, the Fixer Upper star, 46, revealed in an Instagram post that she had written a third children's book titled The World Needs the Wonder You See.
"My new children’s book, The World Needs the Wonder You See is now available for pre-order!" the mom of five wrote in the caption of her post, alongside an image of the book's cover.
According to Gaines, her youngest child, son Crew, inspired her to create a book about the natural curiosities a kid has as they move through the world.
"Years of admiring the way Crew moves through the world inspired an idea for a children’s book all about the everyday beauty and surprise that kids are so naturally drawn to seek out and discover," she wrote.

"I wanted to write this story in part for Crew—as a thank you for all of the times he has walked me back to the richer side of life," Gaines continued. "But I also wrote it for me, and for anyone who could use a reminder that wonder awaits us too. I don’t think it’s ever too late to live with our eyes wide open and our hearts expectant for wonder✨.
This isn't first Gaines first children's book. She previously released The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be in November 2020, and she wrote We Are the Gardeners in 2019. She is also a New York Times bestseller, and has authored books about style and design as well as a memoir, The Stories We Tell.

On Sept. 13, the HGTV star opened up about the inspiration behind her new book in a post shared to her and husband Chip Gaines' Magnolia blog. According to Gaines, much of the story was inspired by the birth of Crew — and the small reminders she gets in life to stop and take in the moment.
"I wish I could tell you that I’ve always been good at remembering to look for the wonder in the everyday, that I’ve always inherently known to slow down and take in the harder-to-reach moments of beauty and surprise that are all around," Gaines writes. "Sure, I could remember the years when wonder could spread like wildfire in my eyes. But then, somewhere along the way to becoming a grown-up, I got busy and distracted and I simply forgot to look closely."

When Crew was born in 2018, Gaines says he gave her the opportunity to take a step back and take in the little things.
"His natural curiosity can draw out my own, and whenever I sense that old tendency to give into hurry, he is there to remind me of the small joys that can only be noticed in pause," she continues.
"I hope this book is a reminder for us all to never give up our curious spirit or outgrow our sense of imagination," Gaines finishes. "Because the world needs the wonder we see!"
The World Needs the Wonder You See hits shelves on Jan. 28, 2025 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
