Jimmy Fallon Left Momentarily Speechless By Trump's Wild Story About Putin
Jimmy Fallon needed a moment Tuesday to process an anecdote from Donald Trump about a private discussion he said he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During his live-streamed conversation with Elon Musk a day earlier, Trump said Putin respected his authority as president, claiming, “I said to Vladimir Putin, I said, ‘don’t do it, you can’t do it Vladimir, you do it, it’s gonna be a bad day. You cannot do it.’ And he said ‘no way,’ and I said, ‘way.’”
After hearing the audio, “The Tonight Show” audience roared and Fallon took a beat, opening and closing his mouth wordlessly a few times.
“Apparently Trump and Putin talk to each other like Wayne and Garth,” he said, referencing the 1992 movie “Wayne’s World” about two friends who host a public-access television show.
Earlier in his monologue, Fallon quipped that Vice President Kamala Harris was seeing continued momentum in the race “thanks to her new campaign strategy: letting Trump talk.”
