Jhong Hilario says goodbye to "It's Showtime"

The TV presenter left the Kapamilya show amid reports of his Councilor candidacy

25 Mar - Dancer-turned-TV presenter Jhong Hilario made a surprising announcement recently, saying that he is leaving his ABS-CBN show, "It's Showtime".

As reported on Philstar News, the host revealed his decision during the show's "Tawag Ng Tanghalan" segment on 23 March, saying, "This is my last day on Showtime."

"I will miss my friends. I am thankful to all of you. Director Bobet [Vidanes], thank you for so much, for everything," he added.

Although Hilario didn't give any reason for his sudden departure, it was believed that he did so because of the upcoming elections.

Back in October last year, the TV presenter, whose father Virgilio Hilario is also a councilor, filed his certificate of candidacy to run as a councilor in the 1st district of Makati City, saying that it is time for him to give back to society after all the blessings he received.
