JFK’s Grandson Ripped Apart Over Video Mocking RFK Jr.’s Speech
John F. Kennedy’s grandson Jack Schlossberg is well-loved by Democrats for his quirky social media posts, but this time he may have gone too far.
Schlossberg got ripped apart by supporters and haters alike after he posted an Instagram video mocking his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s speech disorder.
“Hey everybody, I’m trying to figure out the right present to get Donald Trump for the inauguration,” he said with a shaky voice in the short clip, tagging Kennedy.
“I found a really rare animal and killed it, and I’m gonna give it to him,” he added, holding up an octopus plushie.
The video poked fun at RFK Jr.’s spasmodic dysphonia, a disorder causing involuntary spasms in the voice box muscles.
Comments on Schlossberg’s post were largely negative as users called him out for making light of an illness.
“Imagine being so salty about RFK Jr. that you crawl out of your irrelevant corner of the family to embarrass yourself online,” one of the top comments read. “Seven million of us stand with him-meanwhile, you’re out here proving why no one takes you seriously. Go cry somewhere else, freak.”
“Disgusting behavior. If this is how you treat family, imagine people outside of that circle,” another wrote.
RFK Jr., a vaccine skeptic, has spoken openly about his struggle with the disorder. In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, he said he “felt sorry” for people who had to listen to his voice.
“My voice doesn’t really get tired. It just sounds terrible,” he said. “But the injury is neurological, so actually, the more I use the voice, the stronger it tends to get.”
The older Kennedy, who is Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, said he views the flu vaccine as “at least a potential culprit,” even though he acknowledged there was no evidence of a connection.
Schlossberg has mocked his cousin on Instagram on several occasions. In a series of videos last year, he called RFK Jr. a “prick” and “an embarrassment.”
