Following that dramatic moment on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'s latest episode, host Jeremy Clarkson has admitted that he did in fact know the answer to the £1 million question.
On last night's (May 12) edition, Andrew Townsley came incredibly close to winning the grand prize, using his final Phone A Friend lifeline on the last question.
However, his friend Alisa didn't know the answer to the question. The brain teaser asked Andrew to name which iconic motor sport race was held first — Le Mans 24 Hours, Monaco Grand Prix, Indy 500 or Isle of Man TT — and Andrew instead opted to walk away and take home his £500,000 prize instead of going for the million.
In another twist, he admitted his answer had he played would have been Isle of Man TT, which turned out to be correct.
Clarkson (who knows a thing or two about cars) has now revealed that he knew the answer himself, replying to a fan on Twitter: "I bloody did. I wish he'd phoned a friend for Table Mountain."
Of course, Andrew had already used up his Ask The Host lifeline on the previous question, so it seems history could have been different if that lifeline was available.
Still, viewers at home praised the contestant on his achievement, admitting they were on the edges of their seats.
In other Clarkson news, the presenter recently teased when the next Grand Tour special may be released while chatting to the show's producer, suggesting that the Madagascar episode is almost ready.
