Jeremiah Brent says there's 'no drama' after replacing Bobby Berk on “Queer Eye”: 'It's really healthy'

The interior designer will make his debut on season 9, set in Las Vegas.

Jeremiah Brent is disputing rumors of tension and tumult on the set of Queer Eye.

The interior designer said production has been drama-free since he replaced Bobby Berk on Netflix's hit reality series, plus he revealed that a Queer Eye group chat has already started.

“I’ve got to tell you, there’s no drama with any of us," Brent said during a conversation with House Beautiful this week. "We’re all in a group chat. We’re having the time of our lives. Everybody’s heads and hearts are in the right spot. It’s really healthy right now, and I think we’re all really excited about this season.”

Queer Eye fans have a running joke that Berk, as interior expert, shouldered most of the work with renovations while costars Antoni Porowski, Tan France, and Karamo Brown went shopping and had heart-to-hearts.

Brent said he's up to the task. “I love an install. I love the stress. I love the pressure. And this is not my first rodeo — I know what I signed up for."

“There is an amazing art department and team behind the scenes that are working hard around the clock," he added. "I’m excited to get in there, roll up my sleeves, earn my keep, and hopefully show people some really beautiful designs.”

Netflix announced last month that Brent, an HGTV staple, would replace Berk in the upcoming season set in Las Vegas.

Berk shared news of his Queer Eye departure last fall, later chalking it up to not wishing to renew his contract amid reports of drama on set with costars — namely, style expert France. (Though he did confirm a "situation" with France: "We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.")

A report from Rolling Stone published this month fanned the flames of drama rumors, with unnamed sources alleging that France "campaigned" to replace Berk with Brent (an accusation he denied) and that hair stylist Jonathan van Ness had "rage issues," among other allegations.
