Jennifer Lopez is headed to Netflix.
According to Variety, Lopez is set to star in, as well as executive-produce, the upcoming Netflix adaption of The Cipher, a thriller based on the same-name best seller from Isabella Maldonado. Lopez will play Nina Guerrera, an FBI agent who's drawn to a serial killer's case after he "strategically posts complex codes and riddles online" that correspond to his recent murders and are designed to lure Guerrera into a "cat-and-mouse"-inspired chase.
Lopez shared the news of the project via her Instagram Stories yesterday. "Cannot wait for this!' she wrote alongside a screenshot of the headline.
Though the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has paused production on a number of Hollywood projects this past year, Lopez herself hasn't slowed down. The singer and actress has several movies premiering in 2021, including Marry Me, which costars Owen Wilson and Colombian superstar Maluma; The Godmother, which follows the rise and decline of drug lord Griselda Blanco; and Shotgun Wedding, which costars Armie Hammer and tells the story of a couple whose wedding is unexpectedly highjacked by criminals.
Lopez is also confirmed to be the headlining performer for this year's airing of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. Not to mention the beauty has a skin care line launching January 1.
While accepting an honor at the WSJ. Magazine's Innovator Awards in November, Lopez opened up about why she continues to work so hard decades into her career. "I love movies and the pretend and the make-believe and the fantasy of what the world could be," said the performer. "And until the world is 100 percent perfect and completely fixed, I won't ever be done."
