Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Helped Ben Affleck Be a “Family Man” Again
"Together, they were family people."
Without a public statement or a tell-all album, there's no telling exactly why Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's relationship didn't last. But with so much speculation out there, sources close to the couple note that while they were together, Lopez helped her husband be a "family man" again. Insiders noted that during their two-year marriage and the time they spent together rekindling their romance, they spent a lot of time with their kids and that the stars became "family people."
"Family is very important to both of them, and together they were family people—and the connection doesn't end," a source told People.
As to one of the reasons that the duo just couldn't overcome, the same source noted that their outlook on socializing and going out was just too different.
"They are very different people," they said. "She's super public and wants to go out, and he's more of an introvert and is happy to hang out at home."
Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband, singer Marc Anthony. Affleck shares three children, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
While the sources pointed out that Affleck became a family man, Lopez also spent a lot of time with Affleck's children, notably being spotted in the Hamptons with Violet Affleck just a few weeks before the singer and actress filed for divorce on August 20.
Additional sources told People that Garner and Affleck are "in a good place." The parents recently dropped off Violet at Yale University and were seen at the airport together.
In her divorce filing, Lopez shared the date of their separation as April 26 and she filed for divorce on the two-year anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia. The day after Lopez filed, a source shared that Affleck "hasn't shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work" and that "it's gotten to the point that [Lopez] just needs to look out for herself."
