Things are going well between Jennifer Hudson and Common.

The Jennifer Hudson Show host, 42, shared an update with PEOPLE at the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, June 7, about how their romance is going two years after they initially sparked dating rumors.

“Everything is wonderful,” Hudson said of their relationship. “That's all you need to know.”

In January, Hudson and Common, 52, seemingly confirmed romance rumors when "The Light" musician appeared on her talk show. He presented her with a bouquet of flowers and discussed his love life.

"I'm in a relationship… with one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life,” he said without naming his significant other. “She's smart, she loves God, she has something real down-to-earth about her, she's talented.”

The rapper also joked that he wanted his partner to be an EGOT winner — something Hudson had already achieved. Common then threw the question back to the Dreamgirls star, who said she was "very happy" in her relationship and asked him if he's happy in his.

"This relationship is a happy place for me," Common answered. "Seeing her happy actually makes me really happy. So, I'm very grateful. I thank God each and every day, and I'm just letting God guide this relationship."

The musician later discussed the appearance and going public with the relationship during an interview on Today with Hoda & Jenna.

“We had a little fun,” Common said of the interview. “I felt like, why not just be loving and honest with who I am and who we are. And it felt good, it was fun, we had a good time.”

He added that he’s a “very private” person when it comes to his personal life and “things that are sacred,” but they “had a good time” on Hudson’s show.

The pair initially sparked romance rumors in 2022 when the Chicago natives were spotted together in their home city after filming their 2024 film, Breathe.

Since then, they have been spotted out holding hands in New York City, on a date night to MJ: The Musical in Chicago and courtside at a Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers games in January.

At this year's Daytime Emmys, The Jennifer Hudson Show is nominated for four Daytime Emmys: lighting direction, outstanding live sound mixing and sound editing, costume design/styling and daytime talk show series.

"It's a dream," Hudson told PEOPLE while walking the red carpet. "I feel like we were just here last year. But to be back again? It feels like family and it's just an honor to be here, just to be recognized and acknowledged and in a room with so much talent and television."

If she wins one of those categories, Hudson adds that she'll “have to add another E to my EGOT ring, if I [win].”

The 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards will air on the CBS Television Network and is available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
