Jennie Garth is sharing what she does when she’s struggling with the “roller coaster” of body image.

During the May 29 episode of her I Choose Me with Jennie Garth podcast, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 52, was joined by licensed therapist Adele House who asked her what moment pushed her to dial in on her nutrition and exercise regimens.

“I have gone through ups and downs with my diet, with my body, my body image,” she explained. “It has been like a roller coaster for me, especially being in the spotlight sometimes and having to look a certain way and having people really critique things that they shouldn't be critiquing.”

Garth admitted she sometimes feels low about her appearance and it can be challenging to pick herself back up.

“I've had to really have those come-to-Jesus moments a few times where I notice I don't feel good, I feel like I don't look my best, I'm like bogged down or puffy and all have that sort of fog,” she said. “When I have in the past gotten into those unhealthy grooves where it's just about convenience or eating my feelings away because I've been known to do that. Who hasn't? Those are the times when you're like, ‘I need to get a handle on this. I need to really dial this in again because it doesn't have to be finite.”

“Every day you wake up is a new day to reset everything, basically,” she added. “How you want to feel, how you wanna see yourself, how you wanna see others. So a great way for me to do that is in the mornings to just tell myself today is gonna be a great day and tell myself that I love myself, and I'm gonna take great care of you today.”

As she’s been focused on nutrition and exercise, Garth has often documented how much she’s dedicated her time to fitness on social media. In January, she posted a video on Instagram hitting the gym with her daughter Lola Ray Facinelli, 21.

In the clip, Garth is carrying Lola, piggyback-style, into the gym, where they did resistance training, squats with kettlebells, abdominal work and push-ups.

“It’s been two weeks since I’ve felt well enough to workout. After taking this time to let my body rest it’s even more challenging to even go to the gym, let alone make it thru a normal workout,” she captioned the post.

The actress told her followers about the importance of giving yourself time to rest in order to maintain that active lifestyle.

“I want to remind you my friends that it’s ok to let up sometimes. I go! All the time. Hard. But we need to listen to our bodies and be kind to ourselves,” she said at the time. “Take time to fully recover and check in with yourself! And you know what, reminding you, reminds me to take better care of myself. So thank you too gram fam🌷.”
