Jenna Bush Hager and Will FerrellJenna Bush Hager had a laugh with Will Ferrell about his famous Saturday Night Live impression of President George W. Bush.
On the Tuesday, June 11, broadcast of Today with Hoda and Jenna, Bush Hager, 42, joked with the comedic actor, 56, about his memorable portrayal of her father in the early 2000s.
When asked if the former president enjoyed Ferrell's acting, Bush Hager revealed that her family watched his 2004 movie Anchorman in the White House.
"He was an early fan! He liked it," Bush Hager said. "We liked it."
She then joked to Ferrell, "You know, his comedy standards were low. I’m just kidding!"

Jenna Bush Hager and her father, former President George W. Bush, in April 2021Earlier in the broadcast, Ferrell recalled meeting the former president on the set of the sketch comedy show.
"We met — your dad was then governor and they did, it was a very classic SNL thing where they were like 'Go! Go and say hi to him! He’s a huge fan,'" Ferrell told Bush Hager. "And then your dad was probably like, 'Who is this guy?' I hadn’t really started doing the impression that much."
The former first daughter asked him if he took notes during their interaction.
"I just was thrust into like, their press pool and we’re both awkwardly like, 'Hi, how are you?' And he’s like, 'Nice to meet you.' But I could tell he was like, 'I don’t know who this guy is.' And then I think it slowly dawned on him, 'Oh this is the guy who plays me.' But like I said, it was early, early days. Early in the campaign," he said.

Will Ferrell as President George W. BushThe two previously revisited Ferrell’s impression in a 2022 episode when he revived his impersonation for Bush Hager while promoting his holiday movie Spirited.
The comedian warned that it had been awhile since he’s done the impersonation before slipping into character. "Here's a funny story, I didn't realize I never said 'strategery,' someone else wrote that," Ferrell said with Bush's signature Texas twang.
The comment was in reference to a 2000 SNL skit that had Ferrell portraying the former president during a presidential debate and using the made-up word "strategery."

"He never said that?" co-host Hoda Kotb asked the group.
"It's true! We had this conversation before, that Lorne Michaels told my dad he never said that," Bush Hager answered. "And he said 'what?'" referring to Bush at the time, who "spent all of those years" thinking he mispronounced the word in real life.
