We're just days away from the one-year anniversary of the darkest moment in beauty vlogger history: the infamous James Charles/Tati Westbrook feud. Jeffree Star spoke with fellow YouTuber FaZe Banks to dish on what really went down behind the scenes and where the relationships stand 365 days later.
On the Mom's Basement podcast, Jeffree was as real as ever, spilling alllll the tea on his former friendships with James and Tati. He started by condemning Tati's now-deleted "Bye Sister" video and claiming that he had nothing to do with its creation.
"It's so f*cked because everyone wants to make me out – 'you ruined James Charles' career' – no, Tati did and uploaded a 40 minute video about him and she should have never uploaded that. But she did," Jeffree told listeners. "And for some reason James Charles thinks that me and Shane [Dawson] orchestrated the whole thing, like we f*cking care."
Jeffree went on to explain that the only reason he got involved in the first place, was because friends of his (who he refused to name) were spreading rumors about James.
"The truth is that someone – and right now I legally can't say who – told us a few things. And we trusted that person's opinion," he said, but refused to go any more in-depth, because, "I think that James has dealt with enough mental abuse."
Even though Jeffree was initially Team Tati, their friendship ended, because of the James Charles dispute. "We are currently not friends with Tati – are we enemies? No, but we are not friends anymore."
As for his relationship with James? Jeffree says, "there is no feud," but offered to tell James everything that caused him to take Tati's side. "If James Charles is ever listening, call me or sit down with me and I will show you what was shown to me and I will tell you a year later, exactly what happened behind the scenes," he said.
