Jay Chou cancels concert in Hong Kong
21 Nov– Jay Chou is following the footsteps of many artistes by cancelling his concerts in Hong Kong due to the civil unrest that has been going on for the past five months.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who was originally scheduled to hold six shows in Hong Kong as part of his Carnival World Tour in December, announced the bad news on 19 November, saying that they have decided to do so to ensure everybody's safety.
"In view of the current unpredictable traffic conditions and taking into account the safety of the audience, the organisers and the relevant departments have decided after much discussion that the six performances will be postponed," said a rep of the said concert.
However, the organisers assured that fans who have bought the tickets will be able to get a refund, which will be announced in two weeks' time.
Prior to Jay, other performers who have cancelled their shows include Taiwanese singer Wang Leehom, K-pop group GOT7, and Hong Kong performers RubberBand and Hins Cheung.
Fans are now worried that both Hong Kong top stars Eason Chan and Andy Lau will do the same. Eason is set to hold his "Fear and Dreams" shows next month, while Andy will be holding his previously cancelled seven shows in February next year.
