Jasmine Crockett Blasts GOP ‘Disarray’ as ‘Superman’ Dems Save Day
A top Democratic voice has praised members of her party for “swooping in like superman and super women” amid the legislative “disarray” that nearly caused a government shutdown.
Speaking on Saturday with MSNBC’s Ali Velshi, Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett warned House Speaker Mike Johnson is “not going to get any favors out of” her party ahead of the 119th Congress in the new year.
Her comments came after a spending bill was approved in the eleventh hour to fund the federal government until mid-March, following two days of intense “disarray” incited by President-elect Donald Trump and billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk torpedoing an earlier, bipartisan agreement.
“You guys still can’t get your house in order… not you, but the Republicans can’t get their house in order,” said Velshi.
Crockett swiftly replied, “I was about to say, Ali, don’t put that on us!”
Crockett went on, “Democrats are swooping in like Superman and super women to make sure they can take care of the American people, but I just need the American people to have longer memories because, as you stated, this Congress ended on the same note that it began. But for some reason we will not have a Speaker (Hakeem) Jeffries on January 3.”
Crockett then added, “We knew that these Republicans in their slim majority were unable to get anything done, and the crazy part is that Nancy Pelosi had the same slim majority but, guess what, we weren’t always in a state of crises, and they are going to go into the 119th with an even slimmer majority.”
Velshi then responded, “Yeah, well, [Pelosi] also apparently had a calculator on her phone, which maybe Mike Johnson doesn’t have, to be able to say, ‘Oh wait… we’re gonna have a problem here.’”
