Jared Leto Climbed to the Top of the Empire State Building in Wild Publicity Stunt to Promote Music Tour
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…Jared Leto?
It’s no secret that Midtown Manhattanites are often caught up in the hustle of their busy lives. Should they ever take a break and look skyward, they might be treated to a pleasant blue sky. On the morning of Nov. 9, however, they would have seen a man with long hair clad in an orange suit scaling the top of the Empire State Building. Was it Spider-Man, hero of Queens? No, it was none other than Academy Award winner and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto.

To promote the band’s upcoming world tour, Leto decided to climb one of the country’s most famous landmarks, which happens to be the fourth tallest skyscraper in New York City. With accompanying helicopter footage showing off his Peter Parker-like athleticism, the climber, actor and singer celebrated the Seasons 2024 World Tour with the unique accomplishment of being the first to climb the Empire State Building.
Leto cited an infatuation with the city’s iconic landmark dating back to his youth. He said in a statement, “The building is a testament of all the things that can be done in the world if we put our minds to it, which is largely the inspiration behind our most recent album, ‘It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.’”
“It’s The End of The World But It’s a Beautiful Day” was released on Sept. 15 through Concord Records; the rock band is made up of Leto and his brother Shannon.
The band’s tour begins in Latin America with performances in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. They then move on to Europe where they will play 28 shows across the continent before heading to North America, where they will be joined by AFI with Poppy and KennyHoopla throughout the 24 shows. The tour wraps up in Australia and New Zealand with four arena shows.
This is 30 Seconds to Mars’ first headlining tour in more than five years. Tickets can be found here.
