For those who are still hazy about the changes, independent travellers can visit Japan without getting a special visa from 11 October. You no longer need to book your free and easy trip through a travel agency.
It is also less troublesome if you are fully vaccinated, as you may be requested to present proof of vaccination showing three doses at different points of the trip. On the other hand, travellers who are not vaccinated or fully vaccinated must present a negative COVID-19 test result before departure. They may also be subject to a COVID-19 test upon arrival and quarantine for three to five days.
