KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — Non-governmental organisation Food Aid Foundation recently received a food truck and caravan from the Japan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for its humanitarian efforts.

The donation was made under Japan’s Grand Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

The newly-procured mobile unit will facilitate the distribution of surplus food and prepared meals for the B40 communities in the Klang Valley.

The foundation, which is the environment, social and governance partner of Genovasi University College, said in a statement that the acquisition of these vehicles will enhance the frequency and efficiency of delivering surplus food and providing meals to those in need.

“The foundation is firmly committed to the conviction that no individual should endure hunger.

“Consequently, the organisation diligently endeavours to provide nourishing meals and essential food supplies to vulnerable individuals and families, thereby enabling them to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.”

The foundation said that the realisation of its mission would not have been feasible without the support of esteemed entities such as the Japan Embassy.

“Japan has long been globally acknowledged as a preeminent leader in the realm of humanitarian aid and sustainable development initiatives.

“The Embassy’s resolute dedication to grassroots projects, coupled with its pronounced focus on human security, stands as a testament to its commitment to effecting positive change within communities worldwide.”

The Embassy’s support extended to the foundation serves as a poignant testimony to the robust bond shared between Japan and Malaysia, one founded upon shared values of compassion, cooperation, and shared aspiration for a more promising future for all.

The GGP represents a financial aid program designed to empower a diverse array of community-based organisations operating at the grassroots level with the overarching aim of ensuring and enhancing human security in fields such as healthcare, education, and the environment.

The Food Aid Foundation was among the beneficiaries of the GGP in 2022, receiving a grant of RM150,000 for the project.

The foundation pledged to leverage these mobile assets to their fullest potential, ensuring that no one is left behind in our mission to combat hunger.
