Oliver planned to get the snip but when he told his wife the day before she made him cancel the appointment.

However Jools, who originally tied the knot with Oliver 23 years ago, decided it wasn’t time to call it quits on their ability to add to their family just yet.

Oliver explained that he was ready to be “spayed” when he had to call the doctor and cancel.

He said: “She made me cancel there and then, live. I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry, Mr Surgeon.’

“He goes, ‘It won’t be the first time and it won’t be the last, but I’d love to spay you another day when you’re ready.’ He actually did say that. But I do need to be done.”

Talking to Radio X Oliver also joked that he won’t let the writer talk him into having more kids.

He continued: “She’d love to. I need to get spayed, basically.”

The couple recently renewed their vows getting married for a second time with their five children present for the momentous occasion.
