Directed by Robert Schwentke (Red), Control is based on the podcast from Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie. The film revolves around a troubled doctor who wakes up one morning to the sound of a mysterious voice in his head. With his reality now in question, the voice makes a series of escalating demands he must follow or devastating consequences will unfold.

Rounding out the key crew is director of photography Roman Vasyanov (Fury), and BAFTA-nominated editor Sven Budelmann (All Quiet On The Western Front). Costumes were designed by prolific costume designer Mona May (Clueless), with casting by Reg Poerscout-Edgerton and Lillie Jeffrey (Rocketman).

The pic marks the fifth film Studiocanal and The Picture Company will have shot in Berlin in association with Studio Babelsberg. The Picture Company partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman will produce under their long-term overall deal with Studiocanal. Luc Etienne will serve as executive producer. Ron Halpern and Shana Eddy oversee the project for Studiocanal.

The Picture Company and Studiocanal earlier this year, released the action-comedy Role Play on Amazon which stars Kaley Cuoco and David Oyelowo. The Picture Company is also among the producers of the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown from Searchlight Pictures, which stars Timothee Chalamet and will be directed by James Mangold who is now shooting. Studiocanal and The Picture Company’s horror film Baghead starring Freya Allan made its US debut on Shudder on April 5.

Julianne Moore recently joined the cast, playing a mysterious presence McAvoy’s character Doctor Conway must contend with. The highly acclaimed Oscar-winning actress is fresh off of her turn in May December, from which she garnered a Best Supporting Actress nomination at this year’s Golden Globes and is currently starring in Starz’ limited series Mary And George.
