James Gunn shares wild plot ideas for Scooby Doo 3 where Shaggy and Scooby are villains
James Gunn has become known for his writing and directing work on superhero blockbusters Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad but many also fondly remember his scripting of those early-00's Scooby-Doo movies.
Starring Buffy the Vampire Slayer icon Sarah Michelle Gellar alongside Freddie Prinze Jr., Linda Cardellini and Matthew Lillard, the 2002 and 2004 films brought the classic cartoons about a group of teenage sleuths and their Great Dane to a whole new audience and became cult favourites.
Gunn only made two live-action Scooby movies but many fans have since wondered what a third trip in the Mystery Machine would have looked like.
The director has now revealed all on what Scooby and the gang would have got up to if they'd had another adventure under his helm and it's more than a little bit left-field.

Gunn held a special Q&A session on Twitter for fans to ask him anything with one person asking: "What was Scooby-Doo 3 going to be about?"
And Gunn didn't disappoint with his answer, revealing that a third film would have seen Scooby and Shaggy shockingly unmasked as the true villains.
"The Mystery Ink gang are hired by a town in Scotland who complain they're being plagued by monsters but we discover throughout the film the monsters are actually the victims and Scooby & Shaggy have to come to terms with their own prejudices & narrow belief systems," he tweeted.

One adaptation we will get to see soon is animated project SCOOB! which will see the Mystery Inc gang team up with other heroes of the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from Dick Dastardly and his evil scheme.
Frank Welker will reprise his role as Scooby-Doo (a role he's voiced since 2002), with Zac Efron voicing Fred Jones, Will Forte playing Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez taking on Velma, Amanda Seyfried voicing Daphne and Jason Isaacs starring as Dick Dastardly.
SCOOB!'s release date has been changed several times and is currently delayed indefinitely after its May 2020 release was postponed due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
