Jake Gyllenhaal Robs a Bank and Races Through LA in Michael Bay’s ‘Ambulance’ Trailer (Video)

Michael Bay’s latest thriller, “Ambulance,” has Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II starring as two bank robbers who hijack an ambulance as a getaway vehicle. And the film’s stylish and intense first trailer shows the pair racing through downtown Los Angeles as part of their high-speed getaway.

In the film, Abdul-Mateen plays a man who’s desperate to pay off bills for his family and is convinced to rob a bank with Gyllenhaal for a score of $32 million, only for the heist to go wrong and lead to them escaping in the back of an ambulance.

While “Ambulance” has all the flair, muscle and testosterone you might expect from a Michael Bay movie, the first trailer is also a more dramatic affair, with Gyllenhaal and Abdul-Mateen’s characters trying to escape while also aiming to protect the life of a cop who is in critical condition inside the ambulance they’ve taken hostage.

“We’re not the bad guys,” Gyllenhaal pleads with his reluctant partner. “We don’t get to walk off into the sunset,” Abdul-Mateen responds.

Eiza González also stars in “Ambulance” as the EMT who gets roped into the explosive situation. Bay’s film is based on a 2005 Danish thriller of the same name by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen.

Chris Fedak wrote the original story and screenplay for the new film. In addition to directing, Bay also produced with Bradley J. Fischer, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Ian Bryce. Universal Pictures is releasing the film in theaters on Feb. 18.
