Jake Cuenca dismisses notion that celebs aren't affected by pandemic

6 Aug – Jake Cuenca has recently silenced a netizen who claimed that celebrities were not affected by the pandemic.

As reported on Push, the incident started after Cuenca expressed his disagreement with Senator Cynthia Villar's statement in response to medical workers' plea for the government to revert Metro Manila to strict lockdown again due to the rising number of cases.

Villar previously stated that the economy could not be closed as people will starve to death otherwise, and that health workers should improve on their work instead.

In response, Cuenca tweeted, "Ma'am, let's not ignore the work that our healthcare workers do, they are the ones who are giving their lives for all of us during the pandemic. They should be thanked."

Soon after, a certain netizen responded to Cuenca, saying that Senator Villar is right and that the actor does not feel the hardship as celebrities have their own savings.

To that, Cuenca shared several photos of celebrities' charity work since the pandemic, and wrote, "Yes savings that we also use to help our frontliners, Kapamilyas, and other Filipinos who are [in] need. Rather than trolling maybe you should put your energy into helping other people instead."
