Jack Black's Po Goes from Dragon Warrior to Spiritual Leader in “Kung Fu Panda 4” Trailer

Awkwafina, Viola Davis and more join Jack Black in 'Kung Fu Panda 4,' in theaters March 8

Po will soon be back on the big screen.

The first trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4 debuted Wednesday, seeing Jack Black's heroic mammal set off on a new adventure.

The sequel finds the panda "tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace," which "poses a couple of obvious problems," per a synopsis.

"First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position," the synopsis continues.

"In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places," it adds, in part, also touching on new characters voiced by Viola Davis and Awkwafina.

The trailer for Kung Fu Panda comes after a successful year for Black in the animated-film world, as The Super Mario Bros. Movie in which he voiced villain Bowser, and performed the hit song "Peaches" — made more than $1.36 billion worldwide.

As for the project Black is most proud of in his own career so far, he told PEOPLE in April, "in a weird way, it might be Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, because that's the only movie that I wrote."

"That one is actually my real baby," he added of the 2006 musical comedy he also starred in alongside Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass, which featured many elements inspired by their real-life journey as a band. "Maybe it's not the best, but it is my proudest."

Kung Fu Panda 4 is in theaters March 8.
