KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — The director-general of the Community Communication Department (J-Kom) Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff today said that Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders’ statements appear to only be interested in killing the character of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Mohammad said in addition to belittling the prime minister and his good intentions, these PN leaders are tagging him with inappropriate “titles”.

“It’s sad to hear that, not to mention that the titles thrown are by people who claim that they are kind and generous.

“The PMX does not respond with insults. PMX responded with deeds and kindness,” Mohammad Agus said referring to Anwar as the 10th Malaysia prime minister in Roman numerals.

He urged PN leaders to focus on what Anwar and the unity government has done in the last seven months.

“To me, it’s the best,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook.

Among initiatives that were introduced after Anwar became prime minister included, flood relief aid increased to RM800 from RM600, medical treatments in selected private clinics free of charge, no charges for Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) train tickets for students and disabled persons and lifting of bankruptcy status for 130,000 insolvents.

On Friday, Anwar had once again challenged PN leaders to submit a motion of no confidence against him at the next Dewan Rakyat sitting after endless claims from the Opposition bloc having enough numbers to take over the government.

The parties in the unity government had last Friday launched their election machinery for the Selangor state election.

Selangor, together with Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will hold their state elections on August 12.
