ITV bosses 'consider Coleen Rooney for major presenting roles' after I’m A Celebrity success

Coleen Rooney is reportedly being considered for presenting roles, with ITV bosses impressed by her on-screen performance on I’m a Celebrity this week.

The 38-year-old wife of footballer-turned-Plymouth Argyle manager Wayne Rooney has spoken candidly on recent shows about the challenges in her marriage.

She revealed that the public has “not forgiven” her husband for past indiscretions, including visiting brothels, being involved with other women and a drink-driving conviction.

She said despite “difficult” times in her marriage the couple are “happy now”. She added: "It’s not a good thing for Wayne to be unsupervised.”

Ms Rooney has reportedly impressed ITV producers, according to the Sun, and is being considered for future presenting roles thanks in part to her status as a high-profile influencer.

ITV is said to be exploring the idea leveraging her vast array of contacts for an advertiser-funded programme, similar to M&S: Dress for Less with AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay.

A source told the paper: “Coleen already brings with her the Midas touch when it comes to endorsing the kinds of products which ITV’s advertisers sell.

“She has over a million followers on Instagram alone, and most of them scan her pictures and observe everything she wears and buys.

“There are vast sums of money at stake with the deals for the new batch of ITV shows which they are considering her up for.”

Ms Rooney has in recent years been wrapped up in the Wagatha Christie turmoil alongside fellow footballer wife Rebekah Vardy.

Having accused Jamie Vardy’s wife of leaking information about her life to the press, she then had to endure libel court battles - which she ultimately won.

Ms Rooney described this as her “worst nightmare” as she felt she was “putting on a show for the whole world”.

She said: “That was my worst nightmare to go to court… I felt ashamed going to court because I am not that type to play things out in public.

“I just felt like it was like putting on a show for the whole world. I didn’t want that, I wanted to settle it before and get it done with.

“What got me, over the whole thing, was it became a bit of a joke and that’s really disappointing, it wasn’t a joke for me.

“…But no one knew the full story.”
