Healthcare workers who live in enhanced movement control areas (MCO) in Sabah have said that they are unable to leave the areas to go to work, despite having a letter from the Health Ministry (MOH).

However, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this matter has since been resolved.

“We have addressed this issue with the police, but they (the healthcare officers) need to show their nametag and letter,” Noor Hisham told Malaysiakini in a WhatsApp message today.

He had been asked to respond to complaints from healthcare workers in Sabah who had posted on social media about being unable to go to work due to enhanced MCO restrictions.

There are currently 24 areas under the enhanced MCO in Sabah.

Sabah has consistently recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases in a state in recent weeks.

Yesterday, Sabah reported 410 new Covid-19 cases, as announced by the Health Ministry.

Of the 410 cases, 60 of them were from clusters, 218 were from close contact screening while 132 were from other types of Covid-19 screening.
