ISS crew members work on new robotic arm
STORY: Flight Engineer Samantha Cristoforetti of the ESA joined Commander Oleg Artemyev for the six-and-a-half-hour trip from the Poisk module to the site of the new robotic arm.
The today’s spacewalk will include work to install platforms and workstation adapter hardware. The spacewalkers will also relocate the arm’s external panel, change a protective window and extend a telescoping boom.
The robotic arm will be used to move payloads, equipment and even spacewalkers.
