Israelis tackle lockdown gloom with screaming

Keep calm and carry on screaming.

That’s one way a group of Israelis are getting through the latest COVID-19 lockdown. Mary Peery has recovered from the virus.

"We decided to meet, our group together, in order to take the group scream so that we can release our bad energies from the lockdown, and to take a big, big, big scream to enable us to get on with our lives, now that we are free from lockdown."

Israel is only just easing its way out of a month-long lockdown - and a record vaccine rollout has done little to ease its pandemic curbs.

Like many, this group are tired of the confinement.

"Shouting is known in Yoga and in Tai chi, which I'm practicing, to take out all the frustration and bad spirits from the body and the mind and that's why today we are shouting freedom."

One of the organizers played down any health risks, saying everyone in the group has recovered from COVID-19 or been vaccinated.

Mary Kogan had this message.

"I want to say to all the world, no matter where are you, in Israel, or in Russia, or in Belarus, don't be afraid to raise your voice and to shout if you want."

But you might want to check you are socially distanced before you try.
