Israelis protest before first judiciary reform vote

STORY: In Tel Aviv, parents and children marched through the streets of the city, waving Israeli flags and chanting "Democracy" while practically blocking roads in Israel's financial and cultural hub.

In Jerusalem, drone footage showed tens of thousands of Israelis, many of whom were waving Israeli flags, protesting behind police barricades near the Knesset.

The government says the reforms are designed to end overreach into politics by an unrepresentative Supreme Court.

Critics say Netanyahu - who is on trial on graft charges that he denies - seeks legal changes that will hurt Israel's democratic checks and balances, foster corruption and bring diplomatic isolation.
