Israeli protesters block Tel Aviv highway

STORY: Protesters ran onto the Ayalon highway, one of the country's busiest roads, stopped cars and blocked traffic. Police later moved them back off the highway.

Tel Aviv's highway blockade came after a morning full of various small protests as Israelis opposing the government's planned judicial overhaul have been posing protests for over three months.

The push by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's religious-nationalist coalition to rein in Israel's Supreme Court has set off concern over judicial independence. He says the legislation, currently on hold, aims to balance branches of government.
