KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — Police yesterday detained 101 people for various offences relating to the standard operating procedures of the recovery movement control order (RMCO).
In a statement today, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that of the number, 86 were slapped with compounds, while 15 others were remanded.
“Among the RMCO violations are not wearing a face mask (26), violating the RMCO (24), no physical distancing (19), failing to prepare/record personal details (13), arrests of undocumented migrants (10), engaging in pub/nightclub activities (6) and premises operating beyond the permitted hours (3),” he said.
Ismail Sabri, who is also the defence minister, said that authorities had also detained 88 undocumented migrants during Ops Benteng.
He added that four skippers and one smuggler were also detained, with eight land transport vehicles seized.
On those returning from abroad, Ismail Sabri said that 30,314 people had travelled to Malaysia by plane. The majority have been placed in 69 hotels and eight other premises, including public training institutes (ILA), and private institutions of higher learning in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Sabah and Labuan.
“Of that number, a total of 9,350 individuals are undergoing the compulsory quarantine process, while 71 individuals have been sent to hospital for treatment.
“A total of 20,893 individuals were discharged and allowed to return home,” he added.
