The Irrational and Found Both Renewed for Season 2 at NBC

It’s a good day to be a freshman drama on NBC: The Irrational and Found have both been renewed for Season 2, TVLine has learned.

“These shows are a testament to the incredibly passionate work of our showrunners Nkechi Okoro Carroll (Found) and Arika Lisanne Mittman (The Irrational), both of whom have executed their visions flawlessly,” NBC’s president of scripted content Lisa Katz said in a statement. “A huge thank you to the talented cast, producers and crews for their tireless commitment and dedication, which has clearly paid off with audiences making these series must-see television on both NBC and next day on Peacock.”

The Irrational debuted in September and stars Jesse L. Martin as as professor Alec Mercer, who uses his expertise in human behavior to help the police solve tough cases. The supporting cast includes Maahra Hill as Alec’s ex-wife Marisa, Travina Springer as his sister Kylie and Molly Kunz and Arash DeMaxi as his grad student assistants Phoebe and Rizwan. It already earned a vote of confidence when NBC added an additional episode to its Season 1 order earlier this month, bringing the total to 11.

Season to date, The Irrational is averaging 6.3 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating, ranking No. 2 and tying for third among all entertainment programs that have aired on NBC this fall. It also stands as the second-most watched freshman program on any network, trailing only CBS’ NCIS: Sydney.

Found premiered in October and stars Shanola Hampton as Gabi Mosely, a former kidnapping victim who now helps find people who have been abducted. Mark-Paul Gosselaar co-stars as Sir, the man who abducted Gabi years ago, with Kelli Williams as Gabi’s lead investigator Margaret Reed and Brett Dalton as police liaison Mark Trent.

Found has been averaging 5.2 million total viewers and a 0.6 rating, ranking third and second among all entertainment programs on NBC this fall. Among all freshman shows, only ABC’s The Golden Bachelor draws a higher demo.
