Authorities continued to patrol a section of the Poland-Belarus border where migrants were camped on November 15, following an announcement on Sunday that Iraq would repatriate citizens stranded there.
Footage released by provincial police in Poland shows officers patrolling the Polish side of a border fence opposite a camp on the Belarus side.
Kurdistan 24 reported that the Iraqi government planned to begin repatriating citizens on Thursday, November 18.
Iraqi foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf said “the only solution is to return to their country voluntarily,” according to a translation of his remarks reported by Kurdistan 24.
