Iowa Teacher Accused of Sexually Abusing 13-Year-Old, Sending Obscene Material on Snapchat to Other Minors
Former middle school reading teacher Cassidy Kraus faces up to 33 years in prison if convicted of the charges

Cassidy Sue KrausA former Iowa teacher was arrested and charged with sexually abusing at least three students and sending them obscene materials, according to authorities.
Cassidy Sue Kraus, 24, of Westside, was arrested on Friday and charged with sexual abuse in the third degree, a Class C felony, two counts of lascivious acts with a child, which are also Class C felonies, and three counts of dissemination of obscene materials to a minor, which are serious misdemeanors, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
“It is alleged that while employed as a teacher at the IKM Manning School, Krause engaged in multiple sexually oriented acts with three different students, the youngest of which being 13,” the press release states.

Kraus resigned in lieu of being fired in August, KCIM reports.
She is listed as married on Facebook. According to The Knot.com, she and her husband wed on July 1 in Arcadia.

She posted a $10,000 bond on Saturday and was released from jail.
It is unclear whether she has retained an attorney who can speak on her behalf.
She is scheduled to return to court on Thursday.
She faces up to 33 years in prison if convicted.
The IKM Community School District did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
