Instagram is allowing its users to feel what it’s like to be golden!

Amid the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics, Meta announced a new special feature that allows people’s Instagram Notes to turn gold — all depending on what they say in them.

The company described the new feature as an “Easter egg” in the photo and video sharing app, in which people can write Olympic-themed words that will turn their notes from white to gold on their message screen.

However, not every word or phrase will trigger the change. The company noted that only “Olympic-related words” and phrases can do so.

This includes several versions of the word “Olympics,” including “Olympic,” “Olympian” and “Olympiad.” Words to describe the Olympics will also turn the note gold including, “Summer Games,” “2024 games” and even the upcoming “2028 games,” which are set to take place in Los Angeles.

Words that describe items or athletes in the Olympics work as well. These include “medal,” "gold," “podium” “champion,” “champs,” “victory” and even “GOAT” — a word that has described several Team USA athletes like gymnast Simone Biles and swimmer Katie Ledecky.

For those who don’t want to spell out “GOAT” or any of the other words in their Instagram Notes, they can also just use gold medal emojis and an emoji of a goat which should also turn their notes gold.

The words “torch” used to describe the lighting of the Olympic cauldron, which is currently located in the Jardin des Tuileries park near the Louvre in Paris, can also be used, as well as the words “closing ceremony,” which will happen on August 11.

That’s not the only change Instagram announced. Meta shared that its users can now add up to 20 pieces of photos and videos in a post, compared to the 10 it previously allowed.

The company said it made the change “so you can share even more Olympics highlights – from celeb spottings, to Snoop Dogg’s best looks, to the most relatable memes and viral gold moments.”

Several celebrities and athletes have been posting their highlights from the Olympic games so far on the social media platform, including members of the USA gymnastics team like Biles and Suni Lee, men’s gymnastic breakthrough star Stephen Nedoroscik, and track stars Sha'Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles.

Retired Olympian Michael Phelps, Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, Ariana Grande and other stars have also been documenting their time at the events on the platform with Instagram Stories and posts.
