You'll never believe this influencer is 53: Here are her makeup secrets

I Didn’t Wake Up Like This is Yahoo Life’s beauty series in which experts, influencers and celebrities share their approaches to skin care, from their favorite products to their daily routine that keeps their skin healthy and glowing.

Style blogger Isabella Thorp certainly has a passion for fashion, but she also knows that the right makeup completes any look — especially on date nights. With that in mind, the 53-year-old influencer, who has more than 40k followers on her Instagram account @confessionsofasuperager, shares her go-to date night makeup routine for women 50 and older with Yahoo Life.

First, Thorp recommends starting with a primer, such as Trinny London BFF Skin Perfector. “It gives you a bit of glow already,” she says. That’s followed by foundation. Her favorite is Laura Geller Baked Balance-n-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation, which is designed for mature complexions and adjusts to match skin tone. “I’m a huge fan of this product because it gives me a light coverage [and] still lets my freckles shine through, which I love,” says Thorp.

Next up, she pats concealer along her under eye area to brighten any dark circles with Pur 4-in-1 Sculpting Concealer, which contains moisturizing shea butter, as well as anti-aging retinol. She also dabs it along her upper lip to “cover up my hyperpigmentation.”

To highlight her face shape, Thorp contours with Seint Beauty Contour Kit, swiping the color underneath her cheekbones and then lightly across her temples and the sides of her nose.

Thorp knows that fuller brows help frame the face so she reaches for her “must-have” product — Velour Lashes 3-in-1 Fluff’n Brow Pencil and Balm — to “fluff up” her brows. Then she takes the brow balm to “thicken and fill in sparse areas,” she says.

She even uses the brow balm to line her upper lids for a smoky eye look. That’s followed by Tarte Tarteist Pro Eyeshadow Palette where she mixes together a pale pink shadow called Chic with a bolder deep pink called Mod. To add some sparkle to the middle of her eyelids, she dabs on a light shadow in the center. “It’s going to make you look more awake,” she says.

To make her eyes pop, Thorp uses smudge-proof Thrive Causemetics Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner to line her upper lash line, followed by Velour Lashes Pretty Big Deal mascara, which Thorp is “obsessed” with. The mascara contains peptides for fuller, longer lashes. “My eyelashes are so much longer and so much thicker-looking since I’ve been using this mascara,” she says.

She then uses a tapered brush to apply highlighter — her favorite is Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator — “where light catches in your face,” says Thorp.

For lips, Thorp prefers a neutral shade, such as Frankie Rose lipstick in Toasty. While people often reach for a bold lip on date nights, Thorp opts for neutral shades for a reason: balance. “For date night, if you’re wearing something bold, bright colors or print, I typically like to go with a more nude lip color,” she says.

She finishes off her makeup look with a spritz of Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist, which contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin, “because one can’t have enough glow, right?”
