Influence Media Acquires Ali Tamposi’s Stake in Hits by Camila Cabello, BTS, Kelly Clarkson and Others

Influence Media announced Monday it has acquired the copyrights for portions of the songwriting catalog of writer Ali Tamposi, including her part of such hits as “Senorita” by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes and songs by BTS, Justin Bieber and others.< Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed, but Influence said that its investment in Tamposi's portfolio includes managing the monetization for copyrights for the songs, which include her stake in Cabello's "Havana," Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," BTS' "Airplane Pt. 2," Bieber and DJ SNake's "Let Me Love You," Selena Gomez and Kygo's "It Ain't Me," Beyonce's "Save the Hero" and Cardi B's "Thru Your Phone." The acquisition of Tamposi's select copyrights represents the first announced result of a female-centric fund that Influence previously set up with Municipal Employment Retirement System (MERS of Michigan), which has planned to invest up to $100 million in music rights and management. “I take great pride in my songs," Tamposi said in a statement, "so it’s great to have a trusted team like Lylette (Pizarro) and Lynn (Hazan) at Influence Media to help find new opportunities to share my music with new audiences. I never thought I’d be able to enter into an amazing partnership like this so early in my career, so I hope to inspire other young musicians to follow their dreams — the rules for what you can achieve are still being written.” “Ali Tamposi is one of music’s most successful writers working today," said Pizarro, Influence Media's founder and co-managing partner. "We feel honored and privileged to become the custodians of her masterful works, and we are committed to building on her growing legacy." Said Hazan, also a co-managing partner, “After meeting with Ali and her team, Lylette and I knew instantly that her songs had to be part of our first acquisition for our new partnership with MERS. We’re proud to have the trust of Ali and her managers, Jeremy and David at Mega House." Influence describes itself as "a music and entertainment fund that is focused on investing in the recording and publishing rights of commercially proven songs that resonate throughout pop culture." Influence previously took part in Warner & Tempo Music Investments’ acquisition of copyrights from the catalogs of Shane McAnally, Jeff Bhasker and Ben Rector. Pizarro has said that Influence is "a proud female-founded investment platform (that) is heavily focused on partnering with prolific female artists and songwriters who have written culturally impactful and proven songs." Tamposi's accolades include being named the BMI Pop songwriter of the year for 2019 and the Spotify Secret Genius songwriter of the year in 2018. She's also written for Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, James Blake, One Direction, Ozzy Osbourne, the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and Five Seconds of Summer. She recently teamed up with another songwriter, Tamar Kaprelian, to start an interactive songwriting learning experience, Song Start, via Spotify’s Noteable platform.
