Iran Seeks Explanation as Indonesia Seizes Oil Tankers

The Indonesian Coast Guard seized two oil tankers, one Iranian-flagged and the other Panamanian-flagged, on January 24. The coast guard said both vessels were suspected of “carrying out ship to ship illegal fuel transfers”.

The coast guard said the MT Horse and MT Frea would be escorted to the city of Batam, Indonesia, for “further inspection”.
